A few months ago I threw together a tutorial on how I sew binders (of the non-tanktop variety. For the tanktops see this post). The folks who were around on Imzy have seen it already.

I finally managed to upload that tutorial somewhere else after the old hosting site disappeared. So here you go!

At some point I'll even manage to take pictures while making a binder and update the tutorial...hopefully.

A striped tank top binder turned inside out.

I've started binding again just in time for summer. So I'm making myself some tank top binders. I made some from scratch, but this one is made out of a t-shirt and it's SO EASY. If I skip step 9 it takes me about two hours.
(In the photo, I'm up to step 8, but I'm going to do step 9...eventually.)

Mini tutorial under the cut... )

Summer is getting closer and closer.
What do you guys do during the summer?
Do you bind and try to just take the heat, not bind, or find alternative ways to bind?
I'm a smaller guy, 5'1'', thin, and my chest is about a 34A. I bind with gc2 compression tank tops if it isn't too hot out or if I know I won't be outside for too long. A lot of times, I'll just put band aids over my nipples and wear a Hanes X Temp t shirt (to help with sweat) under my regular shirt and it works well for me.

I took one of the too small gc2b binders that I have and sewed in a bit of fabric in the back to make it fit. I made about 70000 mistakes, but none of them turned out to be too bad (even though the result doesn't look perfect).

Welcome to DIY Binder! You might be wondering what's going on here.
This community originated on Imzy and just moved over to DW, so we're still figuring things out.
It's meant to be more than just a collection of links - I especially want it to focus on sewing your own binders. I have some experience with that and will post a tutorial as soon as I figure out where to host it (the previous hosting site I used doesn't exist anymore).
The community is also what we make it - if you have questions, comments or advice regarding binding, feel free to make a post. No need to be shy!

A new study in the journal Culture, Health and Sexuality is believed to be the first to look at the health impact of chest binding on gender-nonconforming individuals.
Read more at Equality Speaks.

I'm crossposting some articles from our previous Imzy community, so by now this study isn't new anymore, but still relevant!
