Fixed my too small binder

I took one of the too small gc2b binders that I have and sewed in a bit of fabric in the back to make it fit. I made about 70000 mistakes, but none of them turned out to be too bad (even though the result doesn't look perfect).
I… basically just cut through it in the middle, guessed how much fabric I'd need (it's less stretchy than the original and I chose it because it was the closest fit out of my flatmate's fabric collection, and I was overwhelmed by the maths, but my guess turned out to be pretty close), sewed that straight piece of fabric right in, and made it a bit tighter by sewing down one side again a bit further from the edge. (I also had to fix my mistakes so it was less straightforward than this looks but yes… basically that's how I did it.)
I wore it for a few hours yesterday and it's super comfortable now. A bit too lose for my taste, a lot of adjustment necessary, but as I already know that tighter just doesn't work for me, I'll try to live with that and leave it as it is.
As for sturdiness, so far it looks fine. But as the fabric that I used it quite different and not as stretchy by far, I believe that there might be problems after some time. In that case I'll probably go and buy some matching fabric, and cut out the affected bits and do the same thing again, now that I know that it theoretically works.
I'm super inexperienced at sewing, so in case anyone else wants to do that – "having used a sewing machine in the past and vaguely remembering how it works" is about the level I'm at, and well, I made mistakes, but it still worked out ok in the end.

Date: 2017-05-26 01:00 pm (UTC)I made it just a little bit tighter right at the bottom so that my breasts don't actually fall out, and so far I'm happy with that :) It's not falling apart either.
